Good Morning All,
As I sat at my desk this morning feeling a tad of procrastination creeping in about tethering myself to my chair to write, I saw a neighbor through my open window.
Boom…she waves, I wave, then she calls to me, “Can I ask you a quick question?” I am out of my seat quicker than a squirrel can run up a tree – freedom on a warm Spring morning is so infectious.
Her question is about kids: Spring break etc., normal Mom stuff. But then she stops in mid-dialogue and asks, “How do you stay in the shape you are in? Must be nice to have a ‘Yoga Body’!”
She was being complimentary but I found myself almost apologizing. First of all, what is a yoga body? I am the way I am from years of consistency in many things, not just yoga. It left me with a nagging feeling that more people may think that there’s a particular “type” for yoga.
So I go back to my desk, still arranging my thoughts for the post today and I look at my inbox. There, from one of my favorite sites for short essays on health, was the perfect article. The site is mindbodygreen.com and the article is by Lauren Lipton. Her new book is entitled Yoga Bodies, Real People, Real Stories, and the Power of Transformation. In light of the question I was asked earlier, I’m sharing her post and ordering the book.
I’ve practiced and taught yoga for over 20 years now, and here’s the Truth of Yoga from the Book of RuthAnn: IT’S FOR EVERYONE! The only thing required is an open mind, the rest will unfold.
OK, off to play. Freedom and movement before work is imperative in my Playbook for a Happy & Healthy Life!
Spread the Love,
RuthAnn
