Happy May… already?? Where does the time go? My Grandmother was fond of saying that the older you get, the faster time flies. Now I totally get it.
Time is a precious commodity for sure and I believe the trick for making it work is to be as present as possible. That way you are not living in the past or worrying about the future, both of which can be a total time vampire. That is a lifelong practice itself but well worth cultivating.
May 1st is a celebration in Yogic and Celtic traditions called Beltane. It is the midpoint between Spring and Summer and is a call to activate, cultivate, and call forth higher levels of connectivity in relationships. It is a courtship of better communication and higher energy levels. It is the time of fertility as well and not just to make babies! The Yogis say to dream your biggest dreams, remove obstacles, and go for it. The time is now!!
We come together in community to help each other on this path. I love this old African Proverb, ”If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
May is also one of the busiest months, second only to December. I often hear people calling it Mayhem or Maycember. Everything gets crammed into the last month before summer officially rolls in with its more free, loose days.
We are often rushed and let the very practices that calm and soothe us fall by the wayside.
We say we don’t have time to get to yoga or take a walk, when it is the very thing that gives back time in an exponential way.
Strange but true.
So come in and get your practice on, you won’t be sad you did!! When your body is open and your mind is clear, you can create the optimal environment to connect to the World in the deepest way.
Big love,
RuthAnn
This May is especially nutty in my household. Yoga is definitely helping me to keep centered and calm and focused on the here and now.
